The Product Manager (PM) is responsible for the achievement of all sales and profit targets for his/her assigned Business Unit(s) by providing materials to train all TSRs (Technical Sales Rep.) on its applications, selection and use, by developing promotional activity for key existing products and quickly introducing new products. Furthermore, the PM must ensure all technical information is readily available to assist TSR’s, Engineers and customers as needed and ensure the required regulatory approvals are up to date.
In addition, the PM must also steer the re-ordering activity to ensure optimal stock is available to support the sales demand for the product lines under his or her responsibility.
Key Activities/Tasks
Support the attainment of product line sales and profitability objectives through the development and implementation of product marketing plans in accordance with our total quality management system.
Maintain an industry leadership position by the timely introduction of innovative, market-driven new products that fit the long-term strategic growth plans of the company.
Insure product inventory is maintained at an adequate level to meet sales demand and to minimize reserve obsolescence by coordinating the steering of the sales forecast for current and newly introduced products.
Maintain Business Unit professional integrity by keeping abreast of market trends, customer needs, industry regulations and competitive developments.
Support the achievement of total customer satisfaction by developing and maintaining good relations with our external and internal customer groups; such as our customer platform, local internal departments, HAL (Region), HAG Business Units and national suppliers.
Provide product management for his/her assigned Business Unit(s), including planning, development, implementation and control of marketing activities and elements such as pricing, distribution and sales promotions to obtain maximum profitability.
Plan and develop market communications through product and technical literature, media advertising, promotions, mail-outs, telemarketing and other innovative means, continually improving our market position.
Develop and implement short and long term strategic marketing plans and control mechanisms to ensure both the protection and improvement of the company’s market share and position through defensive and offensive means.
Provide professional advice through calculations, tests, inspections and special solutions, continually improving our advice competence and specialist image in the market.
Maintain a reference library of product data, competitive information and industry required approvals, standards and regulations.
Keep abreast of changing market trends so as to take the necessary actions to exploit new business opportunities related to his/her assigned Business Unit(s) while seeking and accepting input from the Divisions (Key Accounts/Projects, Direct-MCS and Indirect sales staff) for ideas in the development of new products or programs.
Develop and update product/demo skills training modules (BTS, TSR Certification, etc.) for all Engineering and Sales personnel plus prompt distribution of all relevant information to them.
Work closely with the logistics functions to ensure that optimal stock levels and product mix are maintained to comply with market requirements.
Work closely with counterparts in Schaan and other MO’s to share experiences and assist in the implementation of various international projects and strategies related to the Business Unit(s).
Follow all procedures directly effecting the PM as described in the Hilti (China) Ltd. quality manual, in particular Introduction of New Products, Sourcing of National Products, Complaint Handling, Repair, Replenishment, Planning, Review & Improvement and Employee Development processes plus provide input to the process owner for continued improvement of these processes.
Always conduct oneself in a personal and professional manner consistent with the guidelines of the Company Mission Statement, employee handbook regulations and all other policies.
